Web performance: 5 essential checks before your sale

Because it’s important to us that you have a good night’s sleep in the run-up to your sale, we have made up a little check-list for you with 5 points to watch out for to ensure you are well prepared for this high-traffic day and can offer your users good loading times.  Your check-list!

Tip No. 1: Check your cache configuration

You can never be too careful, take the time to check that your static resources and catalogue consultation pages are correctly cached.

Tip No. 2: Empty your cache BEFORE the start of your sale

Avoid emptying your cache at 8 a.m. on the day of the sale, this is the time when your users will need it most. Remember to do it the night before.

Tip No. 3: Carry out loading tests by simulating genuine browsing

Loading tests allow you to identify bottlenecks. Our advice is to carry out loading tests by simulating genuine browsing. Note, however, that loading tests are not representative as there are many possible scenarios.

Tip No. 4: Observe your monitoring tools

For greater peace of mind on the big day, our advice is to ensure that you are well-equipped in terms of Real User Monitoring (RUM) and Application Performance Monitoring (APM). This will give you a clear view of the user experience and what is happening on your servers.

Tip No. 5: Do not hesitate to disable certain features

Disabling certain high-loading features such as tracking or personalisation can improve a website’s performance and avoid a SPOF (Single Point of Failure). Remember to notify your Third Parties of time-outs.
