The tool will test the loading time of your site’s homepage and compare it with the average loading time in your sector.
To assess your site’s speed, Google uses a combination of the following measures:
- CruX data, taken from the 5 million sites in the corpus compiled by Google,
- and FCP, DOMContentLoaded and Onload.
For this reason, the ranking may not respect the ascending order of the figures displayed in the Site Speed column.
Evaluate the financial gain of a few seconds less loading time
Secondly, you are invited to evaluate the potential financial gain if you were to improve your loading times. To do this, you’ll need to enter :
- your monthly number of visitors
- your average shopping basket
- your conversion rate.
Based on this information, Google calculates the additional sales your e-commerce site could generate if you worked on your web performance.
Although this tool is limited in certain respects (pages analyzed, test conditions, data… elements we develop in this article), it has the merit of existing and enables you to assess just how important mobile speed is!
