SantéVet is present in France and Europe (Spain, Germany and Belgium), and provides reimbursement of veterinary costs for pets.

To support its natural referencing strategy and offer the best experience to its users, the SEO and Acquisition teams wish to optimize the loading speed of all pages of the site, for computer and mobile.

To achieve this objective, improving image compression and limiting the weight of CSS files were among the levers identified, and the challenge was, among other things, to involve the IT department as little as possible in order to relieve the technical teams.

A dual objective: mobile and SEO

On the Santevet.fr site, 80% of traffic comes from mobile and 80% from SEO .

So it was about making the site fast both for users, but also for Google bot.

Furthermore, the site experiences significant load peaks during TV broadcasts, with traffic that can increase by up to x2.

Although the technical teams had started work to optimize the loading speed of the website, there was a lack of time and resources to maintain these optimizations and push them further. This is why, in order to guarantee optimal efficiency and save time, SantéVet chose to automate the optimization of its frontend with Fasterize.

A prerequisite: optimize performance and relieve technical teams

From the deployment of the platform, which took place over a period of 10 days , SantéVet’s business teams made sure to use the technical team as little as possible. Challenge met: during the implementation, only 1 hour of intervention from the IT department was required – a significant difference compared to the long months spent on webperf and maintenance work.

Fast pages for visitors and search engines alike

Since SantéVet has been equipped with a loading speed optimization tool, the number of pages considered fast by Google in Search Console has quadrupled , and continues to increase. This is a considerable SEO asset, since Google has been taking loading speed into account in its ranking algorithm since its Page Experience update .

Lighter and faster pages have also helped to strengthen the presence of rich content, thanks to images automatically compressed in the new generation WebP and AVIF formats.

In addition to Fasterize’s SaaS solution, SantéVet also benefits from expert and dedicated webperf support, in order to get the most out of the platform and address the most advanced technical issues concerning SEO and Core Web Vitals .

In short, thanks to an automatically optimized frontend , SantéVet’s technical team is relieved, and the business teams have become autonomous on web performance issues to offer a smooth user experience that promotes conversions.

On the technical side, the server response time (TTFB) has dropped by more than 80% on the blog pages, another SEO advantage for this site whose acquisition strategy is essentially based on content; and the Speed Index has been divided by 2 on average on the desktop version of the website.

As for the metrics that go into PageSpeed Insights’ speed assessment, FCP, FID, and LCP were significantly improved, and the impact was felt on the overall performance score.

Finally, a redesign project is on the agenda at SantéVet, which intends to continue to rely on Fasterize optimizations to maintain its performance over time!
