Villages Clubs du Soleil offers all-inclusive holidays by the sea, in the mountains and in the city. The site was not fast enough, but no one had been able to establish a precise diagnosis of what was slowing down page loading. To raise awareness of the importance of optimizing web performance, the Product Owner focused on an indicator that could be understood by all stakeholders, IT and marketing alike: the bounce rate.

Make the site faster to curb cart abandonment

Both the IT and marketing teams were aware of the site’s slowness, but until the Product Owner joined the team, no one had any webperf expertise. The teams were also aware of the fact that, faced with pages that take too long to load, web users get bored and abandon their orders. This loss of revenue was assessed, and the data helped Villages Clubs du Soleil to make the decision to equip itself with a SaaS solution to automatically improve its loading times.

To federate IT and marketing around web performance and measure the impact of the approach, the focus was not on a technical KPI, but on a business indicator: the bounce rate.

The aim was to reduce the bounce rate on both desktop and mobile devices – which account for 50% of all traffic – while maintaining quality images in line with the brand’s positioning.

Rapid deployment and results measured just as quickly, even during peak loads

Integration took place over 2 weeks, with only a few adjustments by Villages Clubs du Soleil to define the elements to be cached.
