CONTEXT
-
Context
Since 2012, Orange-Marine.com has been equipping pleasure boats under 20m and offers clothing as well as shoes, maintenance products, etc. The main point for improvement identified by the technical team in terms of web performance: mobile !
The e-commerce site welcomes 150,000 users each month and generates a turnover of 10 million euros per year. Developments are outsourced to a web service provider agency.
The CMS adopted is Prestashop for the e-commerce brick, and in 2018, OrangeMarine deployed a German version.
-
GOALS
-
Goals
OrangeMarine wanted to improve the UX and the perception of speed to meet the demands of users who were reporting slowness through reviews left on the site.
For its part, the technical team had already identified levers to reduce the loading times of its pages, mobile in particular, and wanted to rely on a recognized webperf partner in order to support the efforts made internally to improve the site’s performance.
-
DEPLOYMENT
-
Deployment
OrangeMarine also chose to turn to Fasterize to optimize costs . Indeed, mandating an agency on front-end optimization topics would have required a full-time resource, which was not feasible for budgetary reasons.
Thus, by relying on Fasterize, Orange-Marine.com improves its performance while controlling its budget.During the testing and deployment phase, Fasterize’s dedicated Customer Success Engineer (CSE) worked in coordination with OrangeMarine’s web agency service provider, NewQuest, to define the platform’s configuration.
In terms of activity, the site records the largest share of its traffic in July. OrangeMarine goes through these load peaks with serenity, without any specific sizing on the part of the technical teams, because everything is handled by Fasterize whose CDN relieves OrangeMarine’s servers with complete elasticity.

SUPPORT
-
Support
Once the solution is deployed, OrangeMarine’s technical teams very rarely change the parameters, as long as the gains obtained meet expectations. If necessary, Fasterize’s dedicated CSE obviously remains available.
OrangeMarine plans to develop its site by adding Prestashop modules, and new tests will then be necessary to redefine, among other things, the management of lifetimes in the cache, or to improve loading times on mobile and desktop.
An example of a technical routine for Fasterize teams: during a previous migration of Orange-Marine.com, the Fasterize engine made it possible to separate the wheat from the chaff to cache the right pages and, in particular, by isolating error pages.
