Fast-loading pages: a UX and business challenge

For a merchant site, page loading speed is essential to improve conversion rates. As shown in this UX pyramid, which ranks the criteria used to assess the quality of a website in order of importance, it’s even the most important criterion for mobile users:

The luxury goods sector has understood this, and seems to be the most advanced in terms of web performance, with an average Speed Index of 6,603ms. This can be explained by the fact that, in addition to the business stakes, luxury houses also have a brand image to promote internationally, and this requires a fluid browsing experience on all devices, whatever the connection and geographical zone.

The car-bike and food markets are also well positioned, with average Speed Indexes of 7,455 ms and 7,977 ms respectively.

Our study also details performance in the travel, fashion, jewelry, cosmetics, high-tech, home decoration, banking-insurance, DIY and gardening sectors, so that you can compare yourself according to your market.
